RULES AND REGULATIONS      

         

I. The Club Director shall be in charge of the Club facilities, and is responsible for the observance of the rules and regulations of the Club and may take such action as may be reasonably necessary to assure the welfare, comfort and safety of the members and their guests.

II. The Club is open all year for the use of members and their guests.

III. Grounds

  1.  Members and their guests are invited to use the Club grounds for picnic purposes during regular Club hours. No open fires will be permitted. Members should clean the area which they use before leaving the Club. 

  2. Since this is a family Club which welcomes children, no alcohol is permitted on Club grounds except for special occasions and with the permission of the Club Director.

  3. Young children who are at the Club should be carefully supervised by a parent or responsible adult at all times. Children will be expected to behave appropriately to ensure their safety and enjoyment and that of all members.

  4.  Leashed dogs are permitted on Club grounds.

IV. Pool

  1. The pool will be open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

  2.  A lifeguard will be present for the safety of all members. No member or guest should use the swimming pool unless a lifeguard is present.

  3. Children unable to swim must be closely attended by a responsible adult at all times when on the Club grounds. Employees of the Club cannot assume this responsibility and must refuse to do so if asked.

  4. The minimum age for baby sitters who supervise young children at the pool is fifteen (15) years. A guest fee will be charged for baby sitters who are not members.

  5. The pool is open and guarded during the following hours: Children under the age of 17. .11:00am -6:00pm,  Adults weekdays. . 10:30am-7:30pm,  Adults weekends. . 10:30am-6:00pm. 

  6. The lifeguard and Club Director are authorized to order the discontinuance of any activity of any individual or group tending to cause inconvenience, discomfort, or any danger to others, and may direct such person or persons to leave the Club grounds.

  7. It is the responsibility of Club members to help keep the changing house and pool area neat at all times.

  8. Members are responsible for taking their belongings from the changing house when they leave the Club for the day. The Club is not responsible for articles left at the Club.                                          

V. Tennis

  1. Tennis courts will be open from 9:00am-7:30 weekdays and 9:00am-6pm weekends and holidays.

  2. Tennis courts will be closed for maintenance between 12:15pm-1pm during dry weather. It is requested that members do not make arrangements to play in that time period.

  3. White tennis attire and tennis shoes are required for all members and their guests at all times. Men are also required to wear collared shirts.

  4. Precedence in use of courts: Weekdays-Adults have precedence on courts 1, 2, and 3. Children under eighteen (18) must leave the court when adults are ready to play unless the children are participating in a tennis clinic. The tennis professional designated by the Board of Governors has precedence on court 4. Weekends, Holidays and Evenings-Adults take precedence on all four courts. Children may complete the set if they are playing with an adult. Doubles shall take precedence over singles. Singles may complete one set while others are waiting.

  5. When all courts are in use and others are waiting, please relinquish the court at the end of the set. (At 6-6, play a tiebreaker.)

  6. Players waiting to play should exhibit the “waiting flag”.

  VI. Paddle Tennis

  1. Sneakers or tennis shoes must be worn at all times.

  2. All courts will be open from 9:00am-10:00pm.

  3. The last member to leave the Club shall be responsible to turn off the lights and coffee maker, and lock the paddle hut door.

  4. Lights must be turned off by 10:00pm

VII. Guests 

 1. Any member is privileged to invite guests to the Club when Club grounds are open, in accordance with the following:

  • A resident of Essex Fells not living in a member’s home may be invited tp use the pool, tennis or paddle courts no more than five (5) times a year.

  • No member may invite more than five (5) guests to use the pool and courts at any one time without first making arrangements with the Club Director not less than twenty-four (24) hours in advance.

  • Members are held responsible for compliance with the Club rules by their guests.

  • A guest fee is charged for each guest using the pool, tennis or paddle courts. Upon arrival, the host member must complete a guest slip. Guest slips are available at the pool, tennis courts, or paddle hut, or may be obtained by the Club Director or lifeguard.                                        

  • At the discretion of the Director, a guest fee of $3.00 may be charged for any guest who is not making use of the Club facilities.

  • Guest fees are: Pool - Weekdays. . .$7.00 per adult. . .$5.00 per child. Weekends. . .$9.00 per adult. . .$7.00 per child. Paddle and Tennis. . .$5.00 daily.                                                        

2.  A charge of $25.00 per week per person for guests of one week or more may be arranged with the Club Director. 

3.  Live-in baby sitters will not be charged while supervising the children of a member family.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

VIII. Dues    Dues are due and payable April 30th.

IX.  From time to time unusual activities occur after the Club is closed. Any Club member who notices any unusual activity should call the Club Director and the Essex Fells Police.

THESE RULES MAY BE AMENDED OR CHANGED BY THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS.
